Just wanted to ask anyone who has done this course, what work it has helped you to get? I am very keen to be a teaching assistant and have no qualifications in this area -i have done some voluntary work but that is all to date. Would this be a good course for me to start with? Thanks

i think it is part of the FD but not definite, might be worth contacting the OU helpdesk, they will tell you the routes to follow

Hi there,

E111 is a 60 point course which can be used to gain points as part of a degree with the OU, including BA in chilhood and youth studies. It is also a stand-alone course and you can cet a certificate at the end of it. Unfortunately it is NOT part of the foundation degree with the OU but I believe someone has sucessfully transfered her E111 points to be used as part of a foundation degree at her local university.

Also, I am not sure whether many schools actually recognise the course as a qualification but it has definately enhanced my skills as a teaching assistant and helped me get a new job!

I recieve the full 60 prior accreditation from the uni of Greenwich towards the fda in Learning Support that I am now doing with them, but only because criteria from the ou course fitted in with criteria from 2 of the fda modules. You do need to be in a school to do E111. Smile

It's probably more widely recognised at the moment as E111 is a relatively new course which took over from STAC. Smile

As each HT will have knowledge of different things why don't you ask around locally to see which is better known in your area? Smile

I would guess that cache is your best bet then as others in your locality will probably have done it. Smile
