This is for a friend ....
Can you say what kids wear for PE at your schools, please.
Do reception children get changed? Or does this take up too much time. |

Yup - her son is in yr 2 at a school in Wales ... In Reception, they went to school in joggers on PE days .... After that, parents were advised the kids would take off outer clothing and do PE in the vests and knicks.
Yesterday, after PE he told her they had to do it in their underpants only (girls could wear vests). She was going to see a parent governor about it this afternoon, I think.
When the PE kit issue was raised with school last year, the reason they were given was it takes up too much time ....
At my school, Reception kids start off just taking shoes off, but after a few weeks progress to using the PE kit. |

Update: She saw the class teacher and Head after school this afternoon.
They said it is because: A) they feel there isn't the time for the kids to change, to which she suggested adding 5mins to the lesson - but they said they can't.
B) They also said the biggest reason is Health and Safety - they are not allowed to let the kids have loose clothing incase it catches. (!)
I've never heard anything like it!!!!! |

Thanks Summer - that is exactly what we thought, putting on/taking off a t-shirt and shorts hardly adds to the changing time in our opinion.
Also the "girls can wear pants and vests" and boys "pants only" surely is not complying with sex equality policies .... |

our reception classes have started getting changed for PE this term.
all children have to wear white t-shirt, black shorts and black plimsolls/bare feet indoors.
outdoors its same for summer but in winter they can wear track-suit/joghging bottoms but they should be dark in colour. they can also wear trainers for outdoor PE |

Usually shorts and tshirt but sometimes just take off shoes and socks cos our slot is after assembly and if it goes on a long time don't have enough time to get changed, usually do dance on those days I work in year 1. Why do you ask???? |
