hi all,
Got back from Croatia early hours yesterday [after an 11hr flight delay!] so went straight to bed.
Have read my report this morning here is what they said about my ECA:
Strengths,
The use of analysis to discuss course material and the way you have supported your points is a good approach.
You have referred relevantly to examples of your own practice to show your own development of yourself and the pupils you support.
Improvements.:
In one of my choices [which was leaning in and out of the class] I could have given more consideration to learning IN the classroom.
Ensured that my list of references was fully in line with course guidance.
So good feedback, and useful for new students to reflect on I am sure. |

Hi bluebell, I hope you enjoyed your holiday and soon recover from the nightmare return journey.
How is everyone else? Enjoying the hoildays I hope. I am abit study drunk at the moment as I have written a report and 3/4 of my exam 'seen question' since I returned from my holiday! I am glad it is bank holiday weekend coming up, as Mr V will be off I have an excuse for a study free 3 days . |

Which course is that one for Veggie?
Bluebell, I hope you had a good time whilst you were there. What a pain having such a delay for your flight. Enjoy the rest of the school holidays everyone! |

When is your exam veggie? Is it U212 you are currently doing now. Do they actually give you the question in advance then?
I know what it's like studying during the summer holidays but they have forecast some nice weather over the next few days I think, so you might be able to get out in the fresh air.
I need to start putting my mind to school work soon.
Star, the holiday was great and the tour reps were very good too. The pilot actually came and spoke to the passengers in the airport to explain the problem with the plane and that a spare part needed to be flown in from the UK. The reps then organised for [600] us to be bused to a lovely hotel for a meal so could have been worse.
Did you say you have a new job in September star?
Veggie, any news on the changes in your place or do you have to wait till you return in september? |

I am glad you got a decent meal out of it bluebell; please don't mention going back to work!!We have the first week without children so I am going to concentrate on planning then. I am determined to go back with a positive attitude; it can't surely get any worse than it did and now we have moved and are actually in the new setting I think we all have to move on to keep our sanity That's my philosophy, I know there will be one's who won't agree but as I will only see 2 out of 6 of my work colleagues on a regular basis (luckily the 2 I get on with very well) I think I may cope - remind me of this positive post when I start whinging
The course I am doing at the moment is ED209 - Child Development, it has been heavy going but I have learnt loads. The exam is in October; it is made up of 3 questions all essays; one is 'seen' you have to chose a chapter in book 4 of study materials, but, you have to do additional research over and above what is in the chosen chapter and use info from other parts of study materials! You then have the choice to do 2 questions from topics covered in either books 1, 2 or 3. I am concentrating on books 1 and 3 as well as my seen Q, I have chosen psychology and education as my topic I thought I would do the autism topic but reading through the 'seen' Q and the education chapter it seemed to work better, especially linking it with other areas of study.
I hope all that makes sense??
Mr V keeps telling me it will be nice weather at the weekend too; I hope it is I am fed up with being in jumpers in August (I am cold-blooded)
Any-one else still studying or planning to do any more with the OU? |

Wasn't too bad then Bluebell - you could have been stuck in the airport! Sounds like you were kept well informed of what was happening.
Veggie, that exam does not sound bad at all. I am finishing E243 and E230 (worst course I've done so far!!) in Oct and then having a short break until starting U212 in Jan and EK310 (Research with children and young people)in Feb.
Good luck with your exams xx |

It all sounds really scary!!!!
Yes Bluebell I did get a job for September working in a village school about 20 mins away as a one to one again. Would have liked to get a classroom TA job but there isn't any! Good news on the one to one as it is for 32.5 hrs a week! |

Your course sounds quite interesting veggie [apart from the exam bit!] I will eventually be completing that one as part of the degree in childhood and youth studies so hang on to your notes lol.
I'm waiting till Feb then will carry on with studying and will do U212 so it seems like there will be a few of us doing it at the same time on here which will be great!
Star, that's great news having 32.5 hrs, you never know once you are there anything could turn up in a few years time. What specific impairment has your one to one got is it physical?
we must organise that meet up with Chlo before the end of the year!
I am due a shopping visit to Lincoln soon for a birthday outfit [any excuse lol] |

Just had a letter from county confirming my appointment for 15 hours! Hope they have made a muck up otherwise I am not going to be a happy bunny! As far as the school is concerned its for 32 and a half, so they won't be over impressed either!
The child has Aspergers, the new school seems lovely and I am looking nervously forward to it (been at the last school for 7 years).
One day we will manage to meet up (honest!) I am hopefully going to be able to do 212 next but the exam is really scary. I asked them where we would have to take it but they couldn't tell me, I would hate to have to go all the way to Nottingham again. |

Hi Bluebell, I have signed up for U212 in January. It would be nice if we were both doing it.
We must sort out lunch sometime, would be good to see you and Star again.
Take care
