Well, It's that time of year when I need to be thinking up ideas for the annual role play corner I will be working on this term.

The role play area will be a jungle theme this year. Here is the space I will be using [see link]

which has two fairly large back walls to play with.
The pink house won't be used this time as I have a small child's tent and think I will camouflage that in a corner.

I am also thinking of creating a safari train made out of boxes stuck together to create a bit more interest and play.

If you have any bright ideas and [how I can make them] It would be great and I promise to post a picture of it when completed.

I know you are a creative lot so any ideas, please!

Lots and lots of crepe paper! Greens, browns, you can twist and plait to make hanging vines, brighter colours you could stick into a long tube shape, stuff with newspaper and tie either end to make a snake. Cover the wall in shades of green paper, attach smaller sheets of green paper (camoflaged 'lift the flap') with simple questions on ie; I roar, I have stripes. Under each one have the answer (could be pictures of lion, tiger etc.) Supply binoculars for big game spotting. Get the children to make large butterflies. I'll keep thinking! Very Happy

Beamy, Thank you thank you! Some brilliant ideas and I love the idea of the flaps.
Am going away on a Y6 residential on Monday Shocked so will get cracking as soon as I get back. The room has actually been given a new lease of life with paint over the holiday. I asked for 'apple green on the walls which the painters looked aghast! But it looks absolutely wonderful and bright.

Ohhh yes, we like apple green! Have fun on the trip bluebell. Very Happy BTW, when you cut the crepe paper do it across the short end while it is still rolled up, you get nice long strips that way (sorry if I'm stating the obvious). Embarassed
