Hi ggeni,
welcome to this wonderful forum. it's good to see there will be a few of you studying E111 as the support will give you a boost.
I really enjoyed the course and it really does help you in your role however much experienced you are. I've been a TA for 13 years but there was still so much I learned from the assignments.
Good luck |

I hated it...................
No only joking.
It's a fairly easy course. I'm a Learning Mentor, and didn't go 100% into it and still comfortably passed so you should be ok. It is enjoyable and gives you some good insight into the job.
Very worthwhile. |

There have been quite a few of us (including me) that have done E111 so have a browse through the old posts to get some idea of the highs and lows!!
It is a good, informative course and I hope you enjoy it. |

Hi,
I am just at the end of U212 (dreading the exam !!) and enrolled for K204 starting in Feb. I was hoping to go for the C & Y degree. However, I am also very tempted by E111 and as I am a TA (this is my 9th year) I think it would be very relevant to my role. I think taking on 2 courses (K204 and E111) would be too much (I am also in charge of teaching French to the whole school and this is no mean task !). Can someone please advise which one I should really go for ? I'm not so sure about the degree anymore...
Thanks in advance for your replies !

Hi Shorty,
I started off with the intention of doing the Y & C degree as well ( done K204 2 years ago) but got interested in health and social care and have just completed the Diploma, so I changed direction and am now aiming for the Open Degree. This enabled me to choose courses in Health and Social Care and children and families. I have signed up for E111 in October ( which the LEA are paying for - yipee!) and this can be counted towards the Open Degree too.
Might be something you can consider if you want to do both courses in time. I personally would not try and do two together- at TMA times it's bad enough doing one !!
Good Luck for you future studies!!

Shorty, The E111 course is recognised as a level 4 TA course so this might be helpful in your role as a TA.
It's also very interesting too [and enjoyable] |

I am in the process of signing up for U212. What's it like shorty? Is it interesting and work related. [not that it matters if not related to work. |

I'm deep in revision at the moment and it's quite scary, being my first OU exam. I thoroughly enjoyed U212. It's very interesting, very informative (not all of it, though, a lot of students found book 3 -out of 4- quite dry) and it has changed my perspective on childhood. I now look at the children at school and think about the stuff I've learnt on the course. I hope you enjoy it too !
