Who does a TA job and then goes straight into doing lunchtime duty???
I am finding it more and more difficult as I do not stop all morning and then at noon get the children ready and hands washed before walking them up to the dining hall for lunch and then supervising them til 1.15, which is when I can go home.
Often my teacher is out doing Ict just before lunch and when she returns I have no time to tell her what has happened with the children in my care as I have to get them straight to lunch.
Alot of TA's won't do lunchtime duty and some of us who are doing it feel like giving up, but we can't as no one seems to want to do it and the lunchtime supervisor just keeps asking us to keep on and they'll try and find someone to do the job but it never seems to happen.
I get paid from 9am til 12 noon for my TA job hardly get a break then go straight into lunchtime duty til 1.15.
The children actually come into school at 8.50 and so i have to be in the classroom for then.I ahve to get my own children to school so get to my school about 8.45 but that leaves only a quick few minutes to speak to the tecaher about the day.
Any ideas anybody??? |

I used t start at 7.30 doing breakfast club, then wnt straight ito the classroom at 8:55. Spent all morning in classroom doing play duty the supervised children at dinner time. Went back into class till 3:25 then rounded of the day doing afterschool which finished at 6pm.
I had a cuppa and my dinner (sandwiches) on the play ground. When I got home I made sure I was in bed by 7:30 and by 8:00. Best thing about it was the fun I had with the kidz. So I know where your coming from lilsparrow |

That reminds me Fleur, theres a book of playtime activities available for supervisory assistants have you seen it? Don't want to put the title, isbn number or anything cause I don't know if we're allowed to do that on the forum.
Anyway, theres over 70 playground activites in it for Keystages 1 and 2, it's good! |

lilsparrow, I do exactly the same and feel exactly the same as you!!!
I am always moaning about the fact that I can never feed back to the CT.
It even got to the stage that I came home at 1-00 and wrote everything down (except the bits i did going along), then went in at 8.15 the following morning to feed back.
Then to finish it all off, when i had a doctors appointment and got into school at 8.50, HT asked why i was late!!! I'm not paid untill 9!?
Sorry i don't have any ideas i can offer, but if you hear of any let me know and i'll do the same. |
