|
|
Ok folks... looking for an EY expert to help me out here...
Part 1 of assignment was make observation(s) of child(ren) at play - DONE
Part 2 was critically evaluate observed play with a view to linking to relevant theory - DONE (Piaget's cognitive development, Parten's social play hierachies, Vygotsky & Smilansky)
Part 3 is - "Ideas on how to further develop the observed learning.” - only 500 words... but I'm now stuck.
Obs. 1 was free play using role play area (played houses, mums & dads & other prototypical play)
Obs. 2 was 'structured' - developing language & methodology - length & width (longer/shorter than, wider/narrower than, the same as)... measure by direct comparison.
All in obs 2. managed activity with ease...
Suggestions on a post card? _________________ A clever person solves a problem.

Could you elaborate on props in role play and how they could extend children's 'discovery' learning (Piaget) and then what additional things you could do to extend/scaffold (Vygotsky/Bruner) their learning with structured play you have done measure, so maybe as you have chosen measure as a focus get children to find things which are longer/shorter etc than their hand??
Hope that helps. I will check my 'play' book tomorrow and come back with more ideas. I will give you title and author too as it is very good book. |

Sounds a good book - I am now working down in F/S from Jan so it might be useful for me as well! |

Or rather a teacher in training... and as it transpired we had to do just one week in an EY setting (having never been there before), and the associated assignment, just as a flavour of the the years before our chosen KS (although I chose KS2).
EY is a foreign language to me _________________ A clever person solves a problem.

You could also mention the e-profile in the foundation stage and the stages that they need to be at the end of the foundation stage. Also if you use jolly phonics you could elabarate more on this or another one is linking letter to sounds. |
