Congratulations Chlo. We all seem to be doing rather well Very Happy I'm thinking of doing option 2 as I like the idea of writing about the different curriculums. May change my mind after I've read a bit more.

Has anyone got tutorial notes, or in fact any kind of notes they would be willing to share in relation to TMA 4 option 2. My tutor although very nice does not provide any notes that would help with TMA's. in advance for any help you can give me

I'm still waiting for my results!

Sorry CFB we don't have a tutorial until 19th May so can't help with notes. Have to say I set my mind on doing ealry years curriculum option two, but after reading option one about child labour I think I find that more interesting. But like you...... time to change my mind yet

Struggling on I have chosen option 1 about children and work and schooling but when I got to my tutorial yesterday I realised everyone else had chosen option 2. It seems a lot clearer but I don't have time to read all the info now so struggling to make sense of my notes. I can see I will be at it every night this week too.

Madusa or anyone other last year's U212 ers. if you chose this option [child labour and did the benefits and disadvantages of child labour, did you just concentrate on them first or argue ....however.... so and so says... within that part of the essay or did you leave that until later when discussing Woodhead and his research?

I did the question: Discuss the claim that the best way of life for children today is one that combines school and work.

I began by discussing what exactly would define the 'best way of life' (ie: being well cared for etc). Then I discussed the statistics surrounding child labour (I went and carried out my own research on that one). Discussed the notion that work could still provide an education. Then I used Chittagong as an example of the difference between the poorer children who have to work and aren't educated and the rich children that are.

I included a piece about the latent effects of schooling; used the statistics to do with British children that work (ie: the hours they work; combining school and work), including their self-esteem etc.

Obviously it was a bit more involved along the way, but I hope that helps to give you some ideas?

Good luck with it! Very Happy

This TMA was by far the hardest. I chose option 2 and being restricted to only one chapter was a bit limiting. I have included stuff from other chapters but they make up a really small part of the overall essay. Still it's written and sent now so I'm going to stop worrying about it. Won't get it back so quickly this time either as tutor is on holiday until the 27th Good luck to everyone nails

Thanks Madusa for the support. Finally finished last night and have sent it off now. CFB, I agree this was certainly the most difficult to put together. perhaps because they taper on on how to approach the TMA. I just found there was TOO much info to sift through for option 1.

At lweast I have half term to get prepared for the next one as there is only three weeks to complete it. Just hope the wether is good enough to sit in the garden and read.

Same here. I'm most of the way through chapter 1 and it seems fairly straightforward. Also a lot of the people from book one are cropping up again, which makes life easier when writing the TMA. Actually looking forward to writing this one. Have you had 04 results back yet.

Hi CFB

Not had results back yet but tutor sent an email saying she wouldn't be available over the bank Holiday weekend until late Tuseday so not expecting them back till the end of the week. Had yours back yet.
I know I say it about every TMA... but I really am not expecting a great mark for this one {TMA04] I just muddled through the best I could and sent it.

No results yet either. Tutor is on holiday and won't be back until sometime today so I expect my results over the next few days (she promised!!). I'm not confident about my mark for 04 either, don't think it's my best at all. Still as long as I pass I'll be happy.
Which option have you chosen for 05. Think I might go for opt 1 but as I haven't read chapter 2 yet I might change my mind Confused

Hi girls,
I'm going for option 1 as well. Struggling to find much in the videos though.

Fingers crossed we get our results back soon. Bluebell, i know our tutor is away, but i still keep checking. How sad!!!

Did you both enjoy the last chapter of book 2 - moving towards adulthood? I found that really enjoyable. Would be good if it came up in the exam this year.

Take care and keep studying.

Chlo X

Hi Chlo

I read the passage of rites last night and found it interesting, also watch the video [OUCH!]

I haven't watched the videos for TMA05 yet but have listened to the audio. I think there is quite a lot of material in the course book so the video might just serve to use as case studies??

I m enjoying the reading [but I also enjoyed option 1 of the last TMA when reading] Might be a different tune getting my head round the question.
Play has been described as 'the child's work'

Am thinking at the moment we need to discuss/compare/contrast the different ways children work on different types of play

Is that your understanding?
