I do not remember the terms dynamic and static assessment being used when I did E111 last year, I remember incidental formative assessment (where you observe the child spontaneously) and formative assessment (there may have been a different name ??) where you purposely sit and observe a certain child.

Sorry couldn't help more

I think dynamic assessment is where you interact and can alter how child is solving problems by showing them.

For instance, Our maths coordinator does this. He is trying to find out which strategies children use across school so when doing this will give the same questions/problems to low average and high ability children. He explains that they can use any of the apparatus he has number lines 100 squares or work out in head.

He then does an analysis for his coordinators role which children used which strategy. For instance it is usually the Higher children that rely on mental workouts, whereas the lower children will count on fingers [even when not appropriate] he would then intervene and show how to use a different strategy.

BUT........ I think for E111 you need to concentrate on being objective and not intervening just write what you see, then later analyse it.
