Hi, I've just about finished the reading for this one found it really interesting, which probably means the writing will not be easy...unlike TMA 03 NOT!
I've got a tutorial Saturday so I'll probably start putting TMA together after that. Just read last year's thread, can't believe the inconsistency of advice given. I've especially noted the fact that in ECA's you're not supposed to abbreviate ST and chap which I've been doing all along, so I'm going to check that with my tutor.

The inconsistencies within the OU about references/citations/how to term them etc is a big issue. I have now finished 2 courses and am currently doing another 2 with an overlap and I am finding that most courses have this problem with different tutors expecting different things.

On the other hand my friend's daughter asked me to read her first uni essay, which I did and found lots of things that I considered wrong, but that is the way her tutor wanted it written?? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I think the best advice I can give on this is to check with your own tutor exactly what they want and then ignore what other peoples tutors say. It is your personal tutor that is marking your essay!

The only time you have to be careful is when it is the ECA as your tutor doesn't mark that, so then I would write everything out in full, any thing in brackets i.e (Study Topic 5, p. 16) doesn't count towards word count, just to be on the safe side Rolling Eyes

I had thought that everything had counted in the word count, including the stuff in brackets! My actual word count must have been well different from the real one then!!

everything should be included in the word count, even whats in the brackets, thats the way i have always been led to believe.....agreed though, tutors differ greatly in referencing ....
