How about having covered jars/ small containers/ cotton wall balls with different scents? Eg peppermint essence, orange oil, lavender. See if they can recognise any/ describe them ask them if they remind them of anything. you could have a picture of a flower/ orange/ polos to see if they can match them.

An extension of this is to graph the results of the experiments and then make some playdough with the favourite smell.....eg..add some chocolate essence/peppermint etc to the playdough and let the children use it.

Playdough should be made by the children-VERY important!!

I would also do a cooking activity with some senses....try using all the senses as appropriate....let the children touch, taste, smell & listen to ALL the ingredients....if possible make a recipe card (with diagrams) so the children do all the preparation themselves.

Hope this helps some...

I would also cook you could plan a simple Chinese stir fry since it is Chinese New Year starting this week. You would have familiar and unfamilar vegetables and spices.
