I don't know if anyone can help but I am after a knitting pattern for a toy cow, preferably a cuddly one. My class teacher is pregnant and her parents run a dairy farm and rather than another Kipper I thought I would make her a cow. I don't mind if it is knitting or crocheting. Thanks. |

Thanks Trueblue. Had already seen the ebay one and put in a bid of up to £4 and was outbid.
The second link has cost me £4 for postage and item. So thanks again . |

You can buy the wool on ebay. You layer the colour/s first one way then across the other and then another the other way and you can add pieces to the final layer to make a pattern or a picture. You can make circles with thin slightly twisted bits. Then spray it with a slightly soapy mixture then wrap it in bubble wrap and we did it on a placemat those old style stick type one from the 70s.*You get a rolling pin and roll and roll and roll. That's the hard bit especially if you have bad wrists. You keep turning it as you roll and keep spraying every now and then till it's wet through,so it mats the wool. You need to check it if you have bits on it in case they have moved. You do this for about 15mins and then unwrap it and rinse first in warm water and then cold.I have a work sheet I thnk.........somewhere.
*Whoops forgot to put you can roll it in a towel, tightly and roll it back and forth keeping it tight.
It never turns out quite how you would expect and it shrinks quite a bit.The other way is to buy a pure wool jump from a charity shop and hot wash it. Alternatively you can have a lovely, expensive jumper and leave it lying around and let your husband pick it up for the washing. He then puts it in the machine while you are at work and hey presto!!!! you have a child's size almost felted jumper!
You might find better instructions on the net or I could post them if I find it.I thought it would be exciting for the kids to make ther own.Have decide to felt instead of crochet as it takes less time and we will make purses/bags out of them. |

we made it on an inset day and thought it would be fantastic to do with the children. Unfortunately it has never happened. Fingers crossed it will one day because those of us that did it, really enjoyed it. |

I am busy attempting to knit things for storysacks and for our next role play area of vets (need more animals!) My knitting is not great but so far the things I have taken in the children have recognised what they are!
I can't crochet at all and have never atttempted it
Has anyone seen a free knitting pattern for a crocodile that is not hard (as I said my knitting is VERY basic!) I had a Kipper pattern once, lent it to someone and it never returned - has anyone got a link for a freebie one? |
