Hi,
I'm just finishing my NVQ3 Teaching assistant course and debating what to do next.
I already have a degree (in Applied Lingustics) and my school has offered to pay for me to do the GTP which I've seriously considered but decided that actually, I don't want to be a teacher! I love my job which is supporting children with behaviour problems and as a class teacher I wouldn't get to do the one-to-one I love.
So, I'm looking at doing an OU Masters Degree in Education specialising in Special Needs and Inclusion and the whole point of writing this is to ask if anyone else has any experience of the course and can recommend it ?Or tell me to steer well clear?!
Thanks very much
Smile

Hello.

I think the course I'm currently doing is part of that. E243 inclusive education. I'm finding it a great course but as for the others you need for the Masters, I've no idea. Still to get my degree yet!

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies. It's good to know people are doing some OU courses and they're OK. E243 isn't one of the ones I need unfortunately, it will be:
E804, Managing Behaviour,
E848 Researching Inclusive Education: Values Into Practice
and the compulsory E8891 Educational Enquiry, which sounds quite boring but is needed as a base to do the others.
So, I'm just waiting for all the forms to come through now and am really excited to be getting back into formal education. It's a while since I finished my degree (18 years infact Shocked gulp! ) but I'm really looking forward to it.
Very Happy Thanks for your support.

Good luck george68. There are lots of us studying post grad at the OU, keep in touch to let us know how you get on with your masters as it sounds like something I may think about doing if I achieve my degree.
