So it went like this, a friend was moving house and asked me if I would do her a favour. They were moving to 2 adjoining croft houses which had been knocked into one and had a large window seat she would like me to make a patchwork cushion for. Sure I said. Now if anyone asks you for something like this - check the dimensions! The two houses when joined had the roof at the back squared off so that there was enough head height for a corridor. The back wall was all windows ...
We have worked out if I use pillows 6 lengthwise will cover the narrow bit and another 7 or 8 widthwise will cover the wider bit ...
Anyway - I started yesterday and have done the first 5. They have ribbons on the ends so they can be tied together. I am trying to stick to florals and greens as the windows overlook the back garden. All materials bar the sewing thread are recycled from charity shops or friends' donations.

They are lovely Jaydee, let me know if you run out of fabric I might have some in those colours. It's funny I was thinking about you yesterday as I'm having a sort out and I thought I'll do the fabric on Tuesday and see if there is any I don't need. Then I thought of you.And here you are making someone a window seat. So let me know and I can look tomorrow afternoon.

I'm going to do the 6th one and then take them up for her to see - that'll be one part done then. Hope she likes them!
The poppy fabric is one my friend gave me when she was clearing out and moving - so she is getting it back!
It took me about 5 1/2 hours to do 3 yesterday - including tea breaks, but I was fiddling around a bit using up scraps on two of them - I think it's faster if I cut strips and go for it.
Jack - I never say no to fabric - must learn to start saying no occasionally! Especially one I find out the size of a project! I have been putting this off for nearly a year though- I feel better now it's underway.

when you posted in the other thread about what to do for the next cushion i was going to say patchwork squares but thought it might be too time consuming
Will sort some out in the next week. I have quite a few pieces I was going to get around to using but I haven't so I think it will find a good home in Shetland.
