I have a great person to interview for the ECA she is a learning support teacher she runs a special needs unit in a school. But the questions I have for her are mainly for mainstream.

Please could anyone suggest questions that I could ask her re; inclusion?

The question I would ask is why she feels the need for there to be a separate unit, what can the children gain from this that they can't from mainstream. Also, I would question her on how she feels the children view themselves as a seperate unit from the mainstream and what the parent/carers feel. This can then be linked to rights, social and medical model depending on how you argue these viewpoints. Look at the language they uses to describe their job and also what benefits they feel a unit has in addition to mainstream education; do they have extra resources etc

you coud also compare to the dvd of the specialist unit and how the children are integrated from there into the main school
