Thank you for the post beautydiva. hate-bravo

Dont worry, Im sure your children will settle into the creche soon. I had no idea about the LOGS but it sounds like not too much extra work. So glad its not scopes as I dont think I could have got my cobwebbed brain around that one. It sounds as if you had a really good class (fingers crossed mine is the same).

I will be posting mine sometime on Wednesday evening, hopefully, if Im not suffering from "death by handouts" by then. Wink

Hi to you all.

Just got back from first night at college, had my tea and now having some refreshment. drink

We are having two weeks of inductuion in the brand new state of the art, pupose built college. Were shown around, had powerpoint presentation about the course when the coordinator could get the computer to work and then sorted out everyones CRB's.

Next weeks a skills test on our levels of numeracy and literacy.

So nothing really much to report tonight. Will wait in anticipation to how your night went Silver.

Yes there are no scopes anymore and another easy optional unit to do is the Displays one, STL16 it's called.
Basically all I have to do is put up display, photograph it, answer a few questions and thats it.

The Louise Burnham book is the bible, tells you everything you need to know.
I got given all my bits on induction day in June and got given a couple of asignments to do over the summer.
Just had them all back and its amazing what they cover.
You have to do one written statemnet for each K number on the standards and 2 examples of the P element on the standards.
After I have done the displays,I think I'll be over half way through and I only started it slowly in June.
Writing diary of what you do in class and getting class teacher to witness it is brill as it covers so much.
Good luck.

Well I had my first class this morning and it was short but nice. It was mainly meeting the rest of the students (theres only 10 of us) who were all very nice and I think I made a few instant friends.

Our tutor is the IV (very helpful Very Happy ) and talked us through the changes and what we should expect from the roles. She helped a few who needed CRB checks and noted which schools we were in. We chatted a bit about the length of the course and what is expected from us and what we can expect from her. Then we had a little tour and that was it.

We finished 1h30min early and were informed what to bring with us next week when we will be given our pack and all the bumf that comes with it. And thats about it. It was nice and everybody was nice. I suspect next week brains will be strained and we will be drowning in info about the portfolio.

Well the first day is over for all of us, Silver and Beautydiva.

Not very frightening.

Can't wait to get started, though we won't be doing any work until October, according to my friend, who is also an assessor (I hope she won't be mine as I don't think it is fair).

Hope to be chatting later if any of us need any help

Hi to you all

I carried on working voluntary at my school after finnishing my NCFE, so i am now into my third year. I started in Y1 and Y2, last year with Y5 and this year with Y5 again but with a different Teacher. I work mainly with the mainstream but on Mondays and Friday mornings support two hearing impaired children.

I absolutely love my time in school and the teacher I work with at the moment is very supportive.

Hi just reading all of your posts in preparation for beginning my NVQ 2 on 15th October. I have been volunteering in the school where I will be doing my placement for 18 months so know all the teaching and admin staff well, looking at this that may be a very good job. Even though I know lots of people who havedone the course I am still really nervous and am not sure what to expect. It is good to see that other people are feeling this way to and I am sure I will be coming back here for more advice and reassurance.

Sorry to hear your kids are still unsettled Beauty diva, I am sure they will settle down with time. Change is sometimes difficult for them as it is for us.
Once they get used to the routines they will be fine.

I have just returned from week 2 at college. We didnt do the diagnostic skills test as the computers were down and we had a tour of the LRC, which is on 3 floors (lots of stairs to climb- if anything at least i will be fit at the end). I really wish we could get on with the course.

Good luck in your placement on Friday, let us know how it went.

Well , had our second collage lesson and we got straight into it. We were given our packs and signed and filled in all the forms that we needed to. We are starting on 3 with all the health and safety and have been given homeworj of getting all the relevant policys and condensing them to our own knowledge instead of filling the folder with photocopies. The class is gelling well and we find it helpful to ask for advice as our tutor is a mine of experience and knowledge.

You have my full sympathies beautydiva, Im with the class I had last year and settling in seems to take months. Along with disgruntled parents shouting the odds and a Lvl 3 Ta who seems to thing that im not worth the bother Rolling Eyes it can be a bit uncomfortable sometimes. But I know that I really want to do this and the nice parts far outweigh all the other stuff.

Hi Beautydiva

We have just started child development after having two weeks of college induction. Have you had any observations yet?. Our assessors are going to to be starting shortly with those already in placement and will see us every three weeks. There are still quite a few without placements though.

How are yours kids now?
