I have bought a set of these Jolly Phonic tricky word flowers and want some ideas of how to use them in a display.
Appreciate any creative ideas. All I can come up with is to cut out templates of BIG circles and stick these on the end to have as hanging flowers.
But I think they would be better incorporated in some kind of display?

Hoping for some creative inspiration!

These are what I mean if you are not familiar with them

I'd be interested in any ideas about them aswell, seem to remember seeing them in a cupboard somewhere. Are they for Reception or year 1?

There are 72 tricky words [High frequency I call them] some reception words there [the ones that can't be sounded out too well] but also words from the yr 1/ 2 Hf list.

Really useful to have around.

BEAMIE WHERE ARE YOU!!!

I have got a blank wall that is crying out to be filled so maybe a spring picture?

think think Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Idea
How big a board have you got? You could have a 'Mr Tricky Garden'. Green on bottom 2/3, blue on top 1/3. Put the flowers on stalks, chuck in a sun, a few tricky bees, some clouds. Mr Tricky with his watering can..........

Orrrrrrrrrrr, if you don't have a board, cut out some paper vase shapes, make some flower arrangements in them and dot them around.

I'll keep thinking!

THANKS!!!!

Brilliant! I'm going fo the garden. One of the the jolly phonic characters is a busy bee, I will also put the ants in a line holding up some tiny letters beneath the flowers, so it says a-n-t-s and I might have the other character inky mouse with the watering can. I think I will velcro the flowers on the stems then that way I can change them, even use them in the spelling tests we do each week. tell the kids the flowers will be changed when they are all spelling them correctly in their work.

THaNK-YOU!

I'll post a picture when it's done

[size=18]Beamup
You can help me with my displays Very Happy I hate doing them. I think it's the ideas I get stuck on and then I get too adventurous and set myself a right old task.
Like with the fairy tale land, All I was originally doing was the castle with the giant from J and the B, then my head teacher walked through the room one day, and being the big kid that he is suggested I did a gingerbread house, so it went on from there.

But is very satisfying listening to the kids making up their own stories, I'm usually listening to readers keeping a close watch through the castle window so they can't see me.

It's looking a bit worse for wear now and really I should be thinking about changing it but I haven't got the time and we have ofsted due- just waiting for the call so i'll leave it till Sept now.

Have gone back on my idea for the tricky garden, Not having Jolly Phonic characters [apart fom the bee] I will stick to your suggestion and use Mr tricky, that way he can catch the kids out when he changes any of the flowers with the words on so keep them on their toes.

So you can be my personal designer if you like.

Got the display up today, will take my camera in tommorow and photograph it.

I drew The objects- bee Mr tricky watering can etc and asked some year one children to come out and paint. I wanted them to take care with painting the objects but let a year one child loose with the paint and it's a slap it on job As you will see! haha.

Here's the finished display. All the flowers are in sets of different colours so I have a different coloured pages of all the different words. I have laminated this and made into a hanging book.
The children can circle the words they see on display in the book and check to see if Mr tricky has changed any words overnight.

By the way painting done by enthusiastic year 1 children not me!
