I know this is ahead of some people, but I know there are afew of us wanting to get through the course quickly (and hopefully still successfully) in order to do other things.

I made a start on reading through Block 5 today:

I am really enjoying what I am reading so far in ST 12. I am quite pleased that the things we do in the unit tie into it.

We do use alot of "creativity" and "play" based activities to encourage language (mainly functional)

I am still very unsure how I am going to tackle the part in the TMA where you have to use the children's opinions - I don't think my little lot will stretch to that!! I will continue through the block and see what I can think up.

That was tricky veggie as you can't put words in their mouths. Sometimes tho you are lucky and they voice their opinion unasked, just keep listening really carefully. Smile

Thanks for that susie, I think I am going to have to use abit of "creativity" myself to get them to have an opinion!! As you say I don't want to put words into their mouths - wait and see what happens.

Also more reading of ST 12 today and it has mainly cosisted of behaviour management (which I am really interested in) and then ICT (which I thought was TMA 06) am abit confused now Confused Confused

Oh well, more reading tommorrow and I might be able to see what activities will be best used.

Veggie i have read most of Block 5 and would suggest that you make sure you have read all the creativity section before you choose an activity.
Creativity is much more than creative expression through art, music, drama, dance ....., which was my view of creativity before reading the ST.
I am unsure of what activities to focus on as in Year 2 their isn't much play even in the broadest sense. I am going to see what is planned for the next week and if not plan an activity myself or visit the Foundation unit which i do regular suppy in.

Veggie have you made a start looking at your next course yet. I have got as far a buying 2 box folders to put the course material in and that is it .lol

Hi chlo, I am about to start ST 13 so hopefully that will be more enlightening with "creativity" Confused

I haven't received my course materials yet for next course - starts feb so should come soon - will have to check OU site to see when it's due.

I am planning not to look at it until I have got 05 and hopefully 06 out of the way. Question Question

Hi Veggie,

Put a detailed lesson plan in the appendix. Have you decided what activities to do?

Finally I have chlo!! Doing a "choosing time" activity as child-initated play, we use it to promote social interactions and teach children how to play together and learn from one another etc.

Creativity I am going to do a session next week where the kids are going to help me make a castle role play area so hopefully will get alot of input from them - they are already quite excited about it beginning a castle and have come up with ideas that have amazed me!! It is all still fairly adult structured but I feel I can now acheive a balance between the adult initiative and the children taking "ownership" of it in their own way.

I am going to do an appendix explaining the difficulties the children have (like a pen portrait) then a lesson plan.

Now I am inspired (at long last) there is so much I want to write!! It has also had an impact on us a t work and we are even talking about trying to arrange a trip to a nearby castle so fodder for ECA there too Very Happy Very Happy

I think I have finally come out of my black cloud Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Veggie you could get them to plan ideas on white boards, then share suggestions with peers. Gives them greater ownership.... . They can then alter things, add bits, change ideas. part of the creative process.
You'll have to post some photos of the castle when you have done it.

Chlo X.

Chlo, I have decided to do a big mind map and draw (as much as I can) the childrens ideas.

My teacher has been out and brought some fantastic books on castles and I have found some good websites too.

I have draft written the play part I just need to type it up so I can see where to add and take away etc.

I think my appendices are going to be very small

I am really looking forward to tommorrow and I am very lucky to have such a supportive teacher Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

My creativity activity focussed on mind mapping rather than end product.
Looks like we are on similar lines.

I have enjoyed doing this TMA.

Only one more to go and the ECA. Lokking forward to doing some housework again then.lol
