I have just finished a dpp level 3 and am working at a primary school in reception class and wondered if it is worth doing any other training . I used to work at a nursery. Is this recognised at reception level. Thanks for any replies. Very Happy Very Happy

i dont know if im gonna be of any help but im also doing a Dilpoma.Mine is for a TA. Its nvq based and im about half way through.

Iv been told that although ill have my Diploma i might be asked to do some extra training depending on the children i work with or to gain some extra skills i may need.I know myself that i will be taking a First aid course and i also want to learn how to sign language.I suggest you ask at your school about extra courses as i dont think you can ever stop studying theres always new things to learn.

Good luck!!

My course was a diploma in pre-school practice level 3 cache. Mainly using the foundation stage guidance for planning and early years etc. It was really if you worked in a pre-school but sure it would be alright for nursery. I am now working in reception class and it is still helping lots.

I did the diploma in pre school paractice some years ago and was told it was equivelant to nvq 2/3. I think you need to look at the framework of qualifications

have been here a year so you never know.
i just wish there was some sort of career progression like the teachers have! For those of us who are ambitious there is little hope!

There is progression but whether you get paid accordingly is another matter!!!! This must be one of the few jobs that doesn't recognise qualifications.( not in the money stakes anyway ) Sad

We get extra for being qualified. I think someone worked it out at 10p or15p an hour.

In this county you can progress up to Senior Teaching Assistant and Principle Teaching Assistant.
