having recieved all the materials for the course last week, i was given one of the readers by Bluebell, thankyou!! and went to collect the other from the bookshop yesterday

the readers are excellent, easy to read and understand, and really interesting too, i have read loads already which is great as the course doesnt officially begin until Feb. Im hoping that will hep me to keep up to date with all the work once i start for real

i am hoping too to be able to research and select my articles for the first TMA soon, thanks to Bluebell for lots of links and the OU site that also has some great info too

this course is already making me think about my own practise, and expereinces of my students like you said it would Bluebell Very Happy

Glad to hear you have started reading already dancing queen. Some of the articles especially by disabled people themselves are really interesting to read. This is a course where you do a lot of reflecting [which is a good thing] and once you start understanding the difference between the different models, you can really 'see' where these models fit in to different perspectives and attitudes and the education system.

Are you finding it confusing trying to find two articles. I know I found this to the the hardest part of the first Tma, I really didn't understand what they wanted until my tutor sent us an example of an article in the post.

Just shout if you get stuck... someone else is doing this course too aren't they?

You might find it useful to use the marking criteria for each assingment as you go along. I used to be guided by the pass 1 column and this ensured I generally ended up with a pass 2 for th marks.

yes assister is doing the course as well

i am looking at lots of articles, as it says you can use anything really, so it leaves it wide open. Im going to get some ideas then wait till i hear from my tutor and check then

have been looking at the marking criteria, as i know you mentioned that before

and the articles by the disabled writers are so moving, it does challenge your views as to how and why different practices have gone on over the years, and the different lives they have had by either being accepted or locked away

I've registered for it, but I'm still undecided as to whether I'm biting off more than I can chew. Also doing E111 and have a Science Short course (which I'm struggling with). I really want to do it this year, have until 26th Jan to make my mind up. Happy New Year BTW.

hi iris

looking at the time scales for the TMAs it doesnt seem too bad, but i may not be saying that nearer the time

the books are easy to read though, and interesting so i think that may make the task easier, we shall see

let me know the decision you make Very Happy

Thanks, Dancing Queen. Yes, it helps when it's interesting. I'm enjoying the E111 on the whole - although I get frustrated by the constraints of the TMAs. The science on the other hand is a real slog. I expect I will go for it, it'll just be hard going for a few months. I'll let you know. Very Happy

Yes.
I don't think it's not inclusive, the course may change how I feel. We'll see.

This course sounds really interesting. I may look into doing it at a later date myself.

Sorry if I am asking a Q already asked but what OU points is it?

OK - I've ordered and paid for the readers, so it looks like I'll be going for it! Hopefully we'll be able to help each other.
