HI all,
just looking for any ideas for a toy museum/shop in the role play corner. I work in a reception class, we'll be visiting a toy museum soon and just wanted to get the children thinking! The children have been asked to bring in old toys and we have some on loan, any ideas would be great!!

Decorate the walls to look like you are looking out of a shop window, onto a street scene, then it will seem like you are in a toy shop. Pin white paper to the walls, paint your 'outside' on, then criss cross lengths of black border tape over it if you want Dickens type windows.
Put one of those giant snakes and ladders mats down as a floor.

You could paint some paper with wooden shelves with old toys and put it above your display so that it looks like very high shelves full of toys. Or you could cut them out of an antique magazine -there is one on Teddies. Perhaps you could invite parents and grandparents to sit in there on a specific time/day and tell the children about their toys(some might be able to bring them.) Sounds like fun. Very Happy

What about getting them to make toys? Boats from balsa wood? My husband as a child (and many others) made 'tattie craws' - potato crows in English! Wink They stuck feathers into a small potato and threw it up for the wind to catch. There must be parents and grandparents with other ideas. Peg dolls?
