did a craft activity in placement on thursday. as it was burns day then we went with a scottish theme as well as my numeracy/potato thing. i was going to do potato prints as was doing one potato, two potato... rhyme with them so we kind of combined the 2 to do a thistle. did a tattie print for head of thistle and a green line for the stalk. each child counted out 5 or 6 straws and painted them purple and stuck them on top for the spikes. below is an example of one of the childrens ones

thanks yeh they really enjoyed it - lots of purple hands after painting the straws lol

they painted the straws first to let them dry while they did the rest then stuck them on (they didnt take long to dry)
