Good morning ladies Smile

I have a bit of a dilemma and I've been reliably informed that this is a great place to pick up tips and advice. (I'm also a newbie so please be gentle with me!)

I'd like to pick your brains for an idea on a 'positive images' display for our welcome board. (You know the one ... mostly covered in WELCOME's in all different languages) We'd like to keep that ... but it needs a bit more UMPF! Any suggestions? It does need have the work displayed on it too ... but what this might be I'm clueless to.

Any ideas would be gladly recieved.

Thanks in advance.

Morning and welcome Very Happy

Will give that some thought, never really done displays much myself (not arty). But we have some members who are very good at displays who I am sure will be along to offer advice

Hi there!

How about a painting/ picture or collage of your school with children round it with their arms outstretched as if theyre holding hands? You could use a variety of shades for skin tone but in the same uniform they would all 'belong' to one big family i.e. the school. We did something similar for a friendship display, with children holding hands around a collage of the world, with different flags around the border. Simple but gets a great image across. Very Happy

Thanks for the welcome ladies ...

... and the holdin' hands idea ... its just a shame we don't have a uniform or that would be a crackin' one to do ... I love the 'all belonging' bit of it and 'cut out' people are easy to make with is another bonus ... I think tho' it would perhaps just look a bit random without something to 'tie us all together'

Anymore fantastic (and easy Wink) ideas folks?

It doesn't matter what the positive image is ... as long as it is one ... and it can vaguely be tied in to all the 'welcomes'

Hi Chykie,

got another idea for you, then I'll leave you in peace!! Wink

Could you get a branch or some twigs and tie them together to make a tree and tie dangling leaves on to it, each with the word 'welcome' in different languages. It could symbolise the tree of knowledge, growing together, separate leaves but from the same tree (all different but all the same) etc.. Does't have to be a tree, could be petals on a flower, leaves on a plant. You could make the background like your school playground or put a simple silhouette of your school in black at the back. The leaves could be different shades of green and would stand out nicely then?! You could attach the 'tree' by tying rubber bands around the trunk then pinning the rubber band to the board.

All out of ideas now - I don't have that many!! Rolling Eyes

We have a 'Smile Wall' in the entrance with photos of pupils smiling faces. It has the rhyme:

Smiling is infectious

You catch it like the flu

When someone smiled at me today

I started smiling too

I walked around the corner

And someone saw me grin

When he smiled I realised

I had passed it on to him

I thought about the smile

And then realised its worth

A single smile like mine

Could travel round the earth

So if you feel a smile begin

Don't leave it undetected

Start an epidemic

And get the world infected.

in the middle and the words 'If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours' above it.

I love that JD I had it on a bookmark. I like the 'tree of knowledge' idea it would be great for an entrance.
