Hey Everyone!!
Last week I got told that I'd be staying where I was doing the same hrs and today they've dropped the bombshell that they can only give me 3 mornings due to the low intake of kids.
At first I was quite upset because I've done ALOT of voluntary work because I stupidly thought that this would lead to me having more hrs (I only do mornings).
Now I have decided to start looking for full-time t.a. jobs as this was what I wanted in the first place. However, the DH wants to know by Thursday, when we break up about whether or not I'm taking the job. I don't know what to do because if I say no then I might not get another job and if I say yes I might (if that makes sense!!!). Interviews won't be until after half term if I get any.
I have another job at an out of school club and although can not survive on that money alone, I don't know if to chance it that I will get a job.
What do you guys think?

I work in reception 25 hours. In the Autumn term I am used else where in the mornings. Could be any year group, or groups of juniors. I go back to reception in the afternoon where some of the summer intake come back in for a few afternoons a week. I also cover PPA time.
We only have 8 starting in September so I know I will be elsewhere.I will find out this week.
Any chance you can combine another year group ? |

I agree say yes, then if something else comes up you can take it and if it doesnt you still have some hours _________________ Men are like a fine wine. Due to the low intake they've decided to move the NNEB qualified staff to year 1. I dont see why they couldn't of kept the year 1 staff where they are but as the reception t.a.s have been there alot longer than me and they have kids at the school and I dont, they obv dont want to upset them. I personally think that its unfair to keep reception ta's on and reduce the hrs of other staff but what do i know? i am just a mere ta after all! |

I would say yes ........full-time jobs are hard to come by. Why not work part -time elsewhere thats what I have done in the past.
If other staff have been there longer then you they may have Permanent contract which means their hours MUST be issued first. |

Hi all
I was in this situation also. Worked voluntary got offered mornings then ended up full time. Two weeks before easter i was told that my contract couldent be renewed, i felt like my whole world had crashed. Anyway they offered me part time hours in the afternoon as claim staff. I have now found another job in the mornings after hundreds of application forms.
What im trying to say is chin up accept what they offer you at the school and keep looking elsewhere.
Good luck
