i start my first day as t/a in reception as part of my work placement tomorrow, what should be the first thing i do, and how do i approach the class teacher, can just see me stood there looking lost and hopeless.

How did your first day go?
I'm a TA between 2 reception classes and to be honest we could really do with another one as there is so many little jobs to be done.

I know you've already had your first day now, but i would have suggested asking the teacher about the routine, which jobs she'd like doing in the morning (e.g. filling water bottles, cutting paper, making paints etc) or even ask her to make a list for you so then you'll be able to work through it.
