Hi Very Happy
Does anyone know what training is involved to become a cover supervisor? I've been a TA now for almost 15 years and would love to be able to cover for the teacher if needed. I have covered once or twice but I feel I would be asked more often if I had this training. Don't really want to go down the HLTA road but have have the STA certificate.

Cover Supervisors don't need any qualifications as far as I am aware. They supervise that is all. They do not teach. If you want to teach then do the HLTA I didn't find it any harder than STA only different way of recording and evidencing information which took a bit to get your head around.Do they employ Cover Supervisors at your workplace? They don't at mine. We have HLTA's ( in school) who cover and supply teachers.
I'm not sure if you are in Primary or Secondary but as far as I am aware it is a Secondary position.

My school has Cover Supervisors most are HLTAs. Some will come in a teach from the lesson that has been left and some just come in and let the TA (who is on a lower grade) do the work or don't do anything and the students don't do anything, so why bother leaving a lesson.

Interested to read you have done the STA as I'm thinking of doing this. I have been told that there isn't a salary increase as its not recognised like the HLTA qualification.
