If you are being given the lessons and then being told to plan his from them then you should be given planning and preparation time on your timetable, as do the teachers.

We are going through a similiar thing at the moment where the teachers are expecting us to plan the learning for the students we support. I know we are there as teaching assistants but I thought it was so we implemented their plans and preparation, obviously I got it wrong. Confused

You sure did!! One teacher having seen plans for two numeracy groups that I take (as a level 1) told me not to bother showing her really detailed planning just let her have a rough idea as I "am more than capable". She then said "well thats why you got the job". kind of a complement but I would like to be paid for that job as well. As for my one to one, well I don't get plans at the moment - I make them for the days that I support him. I do get a bit of prep time but that covers all the jobs I do...numeracy groups, reading groups and 1:1, however I won't complain too much as other TA's get none!

Keep up with your detailed learning/lesson plan, OFSTED will want to see them. I'm surprised your CT didn't realise this. When we had OFSTED we were warned that they will want to see our diaries of who we had supported and what the learning objectives, outcomes were, also how we had met each of our students learning needs., plus our lesson plans.

That's scary! We shouldn't have oftsted for a while having been inspected last year but who knows! Does anyone else find making objectives up really hard when you are covering things that have been done endless times with the same child?
