Went for an appointment with our cake maker today. Partners step mother is paying and really wanted us to hae a Choccywoccydoodah cake even though it's costing her £600! We would have settled for a lot less but the cake is going to be beautiful and unusual and created with us and our relationship in mind.
A Doric column to symbolise strength ( lemon and chocolate cake layers with belgian chocolate truffle filling - 10 layers high) the column is covered in dark belgian chocolate. Decorated with dark green ivy to symbolise unity, purple grapes to show the ability to look after and provide food and drink for each other and red roses to match our flowers (all made from belgian chocolate). The finished cake is then antiqued in edible gold and placed on a gold board. It sounds totally over the top but will be THE feature of the reception and my future MIL is so chuffed to be paying for it.
The first gifts were ordered off our gift list today which has suddenly made us realise just how close it all is, exciting mounting by the minute!!!!!!!!!! _________________

The cake sounds absolutely fantastic Susie! I bet the next month will whiz past! Can't wait to see the pics! _________________ Laughter is a smile with the volume turned up.

Wish I had invited you lot though as I'm sure you would have been better at replying than some of the people we invited!!! |
