Has anyone worked with this and is it any good and how does it work in your school?
Have heard it might be being brought in to our school and wonder if it happened outside the classroom on a one to one basis? Is it across several year groups?
Any help appreciated. |

We're doing: "SNAP 2 It Maths"
It comes from Surrey County Council. It's made up of 79 units and is for children who are at level level 3c or below and need to catch up.
| Code: | SNAP ON 2 MATHS is an Intervention Programme designed to be used with children in Key Stage 1 and 2 who are working significantly below age related expectations.
It has been based on the success of the SNIP and SNAP Programmes already being used with children in some Surrey schools. Schools using these programmes have said that children’s self esteem has been boosted and that they contribute with greater confidence in whole class sessions. |
I've been doing it since January with a small group of Year 5s.
I have made up many resources which takes up a lot of (my own)time. I also have to adapt them to each of the children in my group. |

Thanks zx do you do it every day with the same group of children and does the teacher provide you with the lesson plan???
I have been told it will be out of class supporting them in a quiet area, but don't know how many children in ks1 will be on the programme yet. |

Yes
>>does the teacher provide you with the lesson plan???
Yes but it only refers to the unit's title and number.
I do it with very low ability children in Year 5.
We do it as a mental maths starter. The class will be doing something but only my group are doing "Snap" |

Went on the course today, very interestng, its a Surrey thing, probably very similar to every other intervention package around.
Supposed to be done with small group out of class everyday.
I have to prepare my own resources and my own lesson plans and then do assessments and evaluations and report back to teachers.
How I am going to do all that and be a full time TA I don't know and am not doin git all in my own time as I do alot of other things for school already in my own time!!!!
Really want to do it so need to feedback to the head about how we think it might work? |
