I have just completed a DPP cache Level 3 and passed!! lots of hard work. Very Happy Very Happy I find it quite different in reception but am learning fast and wonder if there are any good books to read on this.

Thanks

Hello and welcome I hope I can be of some help. I've worked in reception for the last 2 years but I've not read many books on the subject except the Foundation Stage Profile (our Bible) and the Jolly Phonics books. I've found courses of much more help. I have 3 one day courses for TAs and these gave me a big insight on how to work with the teacher and tips and hints to help eg don't sit at the back of the class during carpet time as a child has to turn to look when you speak to them and this distracts more, sit at the front to the side of the teacher and you have eye contact and a look says a thousands words. ( make sure you practice the 'look' Very Happy )
I would volunteer to attend any course that you are offered.

Thanks for the tip about sitting at the back, I have and two occassions and did not think, as usual is obvious but common sense. Any other tips quite welcome as it is new working in reception as I have worked with 2.5/3.5 year age children and seems a bit different ball game. Any tips on remembering names welcome!! 45 names at present!!!

Hi Dizzy, I work with year 3 so can't really help with that. But as Abbey suggests sit near the front. As for remembering names they just come, after a week you should know all of them!! You will definitely remember the troublesome ones!!
